The sequel to The Alliance, Run Before the Wind, is now under contract with Tate Publishing and will be release in the summer of 2009. We are very excited, of course! This means a year of editing, production, artwork, and then, God willing, the new book will be released in June or July.
This book is called Run Before the Wind: Book Two of the Faeltheon (you may see it abbreviated RBTW). It, too, will have some appendices in the back, as well as b&w illustrations throughout and a color section in the end. Some of the appendices offered in Alliance will not be included in RBTW, but may be available on our website.
As always, we welcome your comments and feedback, and we encourage you to email us at authors@faeltheon.com or join our readers forum, The Alliance Forum. Thank you for your care, concern and support in these endeavors. We cherish your thoughts and prayers on our behalf!

July 8, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
The Alliance: Book One of the Faeltheon is a fantasy novel written by Rachel DiDomenico, Chrystine Kern, Samantha Ward and Michele Yardumian. This first novel is published by Tate Publishing. Retailing at $21.99, this is an illustrated, hardcover edition, which includes appendices containing additional information on the culture and language of the Faeltheon, the elder race of Faeries and Elves. Although Alliance is suitable for young adults, its themes and settings will appeal to readers of all ages.
Unique to this book is the relationship of its authors. Rachel, Chrystine and Samantha, fifteen years old at the time of the writing, were the students of Michele, who was their math teacher! While “fiction by committee” seldom works, this book proves to be the exception. Since each of the authors selected several characters to write, the people in the story have individual voices, and live and speak realistically apart from one another. In spite of having four authors, the story’s voice is not fragmented, but flows smoothly, because of the effort each author took to edit the work of the others. James BeauSeigneur, creator of The Christ Clone trilogy, comments: “The Alliance is a unique blending of the writing of all four and their editing of each other’s work — a true collaborative effort, not one in which the students write and the teacher critiques and edits.”
Author Michele Yardumian notes: “We found that there is not much well written fiction for young people that is both appealing in genre and that agrees with traditional values. For avid readers, there quickly comes a point where you’ve read all the really superior works and are trying to satisfy your appetite for good fiction on pieces that are poorly written or whose frame of reference is unwholesome. ”
Asked how their love of good fiction grew into the creating of their own novel, Michele replied: “As devoted fans of C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien and Madeleine L’Engle, we knew what the “good stuff” felt like, and we wanted more. So, we challenged each other to write a story we wanted to read.” The four friends worked long and hard, and faced many challenges, including Michele’s move from Virginia to New Mexico, which rendered them dependent on email.
With the ending of the popular Harry Potter saga, and the Alliance authors hope that their series will give readers something to look forward to, and provide for parents books they can feel good about buying for their teens or college kids. Another hope close to the authors’ hearts is to encourage others to do as they’ve done. “We believe that many young people have tremendous creativity, but that they are not encouraged to show what they can do, and to work to improve their talents into marketable skills. Perhaps our example can provide an impetus for them, and for the teachers, parents and pastors who guide them.”
